A structure fire reported just before noon Saturday has claimed a residence at 243 Buffalo Trace, according to Winchester firefighters.

Winchester Fire-EMS Lieutenant Nick Riggs said the home was a total loss.

Riggs said the call came in at about 11:55 a.m.

He said the caller warned of flames coming out of the windows. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries as firefighters extinguished the blaze.

“When we arrived on scene the roof was collapsing into the building.” Riggs said.

He said firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in about 10 minutes, but remained on the scene for about an hour cleaning up the property.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
