District requests athletic center bids

Clark County Public Schools is requesting bids on construction services for its gymnasium and athletic complex at George Rogers Clark High School.
The Clark County Board of Education approved the finalization of plans for the gym and athletics facilities in July after going through some reductions to keep the project within the district’s $20 million bonding potential.
While the competition gym will remain as initially designed, the high school’s football stadium will be built with 4,000 home seats instead of 5,000. Visitor seating — initially planned for 1,000 — has been taken off the base bid entirely and will instead be one of several alternates the school board can move forward with if funds are available.
Bids are due by 2 p.m. Oct. 10 and will be opened at GRC once the deadline is passed. A pre-bid conference where contractors can learn more about the project will be hosted at the high school at 2 p.m. Sept. 27.
According to the bid advertisement, the project is to be completed in 720 calendar days once the initial notice to proceed is given. John Hagan Codell of Codell Construction Company is the construction manager for the project.
