Clark County agriculture extension agents are preparing for their annual ag field day scheduled for Aug. 12.
According to Extension Agent Clay Stamm, the field day is an opportunity for the farmers of Clark County to meet up, share ideas and maybe learn some new things from experts in the field.
“Our number one mission is to promote education,” Stamm said. “This is a good opportunity to help our already great farmers get even better.”
The day’s lessons will be split into two parts and spread over three farms.
The first half of the day will focus on raising and marketing beef cattle with guest speakers at Barberidge Farm, Stamm said. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the farm with the first speaker starting at 9:30.
Speakers will continue until 11:30 a.m., at which point all registered field day participants will be invited to the Extension office on Fortune Drive for lunch. During that time, those who wish to just participate in the second half of the program focusing on horticulture will be able to register.
At 1:30 p.m. participants will go to Barnes Family Farm to hear from the first speaker. The field day will then conclude at Angel Farm beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Stamm said the field day is free for anyone interested. Participants are required to provide their own transportation to and from the farms, and carpooling is encouraged.
