Friday is the last day to pre-register for Sunday’s Run for the Paws, an annual 5K event to raise money in support of the Clark County Animal Shelter.

The race will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Rolling Hills Trail, 2020 Rolling Hills Lane.

Participants can pre-register at runsignup.com for $25 and one donation item for the shelter. Donation items can include food, shelving, cleaning materials and more.

Race day registration is $40 and a donation item for adults, and $10 for children 11 and younger.

Those who took part in the 2017 Wellness Challenge receive a further discount when pre-registering.

Run for the Paws is now in its fifth year, and in addition to supporting the shelter it is intended to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The event acts as a major fundraiser for the shelter each year, with funds raised through the registration of more than 100 participants going to help the animal shelter purchase food and other supplies in addition to helping fund any necessary repairs.
