Discount retail chain Bargain hunt will open a new location at the Winchester Plaza April 21.

According to a Bargain Hunt press release, the chain offers merchandise between 30 and 50 percent below normal retail pricing. It offers a constantly-changing selection that includes name-brand apparel, bed and bath accessories, electronics, home furnishings, furniture, large and small kitchen appliances, toys, baby supplies and more.

The chain’s discount program discounts the price based on the date shown on the price tag. Thirty days after the marked date, the price is discounted 10 percent. It then drops an additional 10 percent every markdown day (the first, 10th and 20th of every month) until it reaches 90 percent off.

“We know that customers are interested in value-driven retailers,” said Don Gozzard, vice president of retail operations. “We’re one of the best at providing national products and brands at a great value and our customer service is top notch. We feel as long as we provide service and a great value, we’ll continue to grow.”

Bargain Hunt spokesperson Elizabeth Pruitt said Bargain Hunt locations typically staff 20-25 people, and the Winchester location will likely have that many employees.

She said the new store’s management is currently in the process of training new employees, and contractors are filling in the store’s inventory in preparation for the grand opening.

The Winchester store will take up nearly 25,000 square feet and be located near the Malco theater off West Lexington Avenue.

It will be the 10th Bargain Hunt store in Kentucky, with other locations in Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Erlanger, Lexington, Louisville, Nicholasville, Owensboro, Paducah and Richmond.

The Winchester location will be the chain’s 70th store, with plans to open 25 new locations before the end of 2017.

Pruitt said the grand opening will include a drawing for a prize giveaway from the store’s inventory. However, as inventory is still coming in, the item to will be drawn for has not yet been selected.
