J.R. Wilhite, Lexington, has been named director of economic development for the Winchester-Clark County Industrial Development Authority. He succeeds Darrell Gilliam, who resigned recently to assume a similar position in Floyd County after more than four years of service here.

James Carpenter, 3006 Orchard Hill, told Winchester Police the hood ornaments from two of his vehicles were broken off sometime Saturday while they were parked at his home.

Statewide observance of Severe Storms Awareness Week began Sunday and will include an unannounced communications and warning drill sometime during the next few days.
