Calvary Christian School seventh grader Samantha Smith hurls a pie at math teacher Judy Mohr during Pi Day festivities.

Calvary Christian School math teacher Judy Mohr will do anything to help her students learn.

Including taking a pie to the face.

Mohr’s class spent Tuesday celebrating Pi Day, recognized nationally each year on March 14 (3/14).

Students spent the day learning about pi and eating pie.

The class also split into two teams — boys against girls — to compete in raising donations for the Clark County Homeless Coalition.

“We collected items from a list giving to us from the the organization:  paper towels, ravioli, canned meats, nail clippers, nail files, kitchen towels, silverware, and cash,” Mohr said.

The girls team outraised the boys and were rewarded by getting to throw pies at Mohr during the festivities. Altogether, the class collected about 500 items for the homeless coalition.
