Yard, bake sale for Lady Veterans Connect
Lady Veterans Connect will host a yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the former Trapp Elementary School, 11400 Irvine Road. All proceeds help fund Lady Veterans Connect, which is establishing a shelter for female veterans. Items available will include clothing for children and adults, kitchen accessories, shoes, bedding and small furniture.
Human services council meeting
The Clark County Human Services Council will meet at noon Tuesday at Arby’s. All human service agencies serving Clark County are invited to send a representative.
Administrative hearing meeting
The Administrative Hearing Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the training room on the second floor of city hall, 32 Wall St.
Campbell YSC meeting
The Campbell Junior High School Youth Service Center advisory board will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, at the school. The meeting is open to the public.
Fiscal Court meeting
The Clark County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include a presentation about the Sphar building and approving a bid to replace the boiler at the Clark County Detention Center. The meeting is open to the public.
Winchester city commission meeting
The Winchester Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. today at Winchester City Hall. Items on the agenda include approving three financing requests for Winchester Fire-EMS and awarding a bid to demolish a building at 110 S. Highland St. The commission will also have a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Both are open to the public.
Zoning adjustment meeting canceled
The Winchester-Clark County Board of Zoning Adjustments meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 9, has been canceled.
AARP offers tax preparation help
The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation program will offer free tax preparation, counseling and electronic filing Mondays and Tuesdays until April 18 at the Central Baptist Church annex, 101 W. Lexington Ave. Taxpayers should bring their 2015 tax return and all documents showing 2016 income. Those itemizing should also bring proof of taxes paid and contributions.
Sylvania retirees meeting
Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blue Isle on Shoppers Drive. All Winchester Sylvania retirees and former employees are welcome.
Community Education classes offered
Clark County Community Education will offer the following classes in the next two weeks:
— Home cooking on the go: 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 14 and 21, $50.
— QuickBooks for beginners: 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, March 14-28, $50.
— Basic budgeting: 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, free.

Bluegrass Heritage Museum second Thursday
The Bluegrass Heritage Museum will host Terry Foody for its second Thursday program March 9. Her subject will be Kentucky History — Heroes in Disaster: The 1833 Lexington Cholera Epidemic with Lessons for Today.
Cholera is still a worldwide killer. Foody will explain why and compare it to other threatening global diseases, such as SARS and pandemic flu.
The program will be at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum, 217 S. Main St. Refreshments will be served, and the building is handicapped accessible. Doors open at 6 p.m. For more information, call 745-1358.
