The fish fry is a lenten tradition that has become popular across the U.S, and Winchester is no exception.
The Winchester chapter of the Knights of Columbus kicked off their first of three fish fries at St. Joseph Catholic Church on North Main Street Friday night.
According to KoC representative Bill Dodson, the organization works with about 50 volunteers for each fish fry.
“We feed between 300 and 600 people a night,” Dodson said. “In one night we’ll go through 200 pounds of fish.”
The group will host two more fish fries on March 10 and 13 from 5 to 8 p.m.
