Ben Douglas Goff III, 73, of Winchester, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017.
A native of Winchester, he was born June 16, 1943, to the late Ben Douglas, Jr. and Margaret (Dolly) Woods Goff, and the only grandson of B.D. and Elizabeth (Bess) Sphar Goff. Ben was a member of The Lexington Club, Keeneland Club, Thoroughbred Club, First Christian Church, Winchester, and a lifelong member of the Clark County Lamplighters Club.
He graduated from Culver Military Academy and attended the University of Kentucky.
Ben was a lifelong farmer at Holmhurst Farm, Van Meter Road in Clark County on land the Goff Family farmed for over 200 years.
He is survived by three sons, Ben Douglas Goff IV, Steven Van Hooser Goff, and their mother, Cindy Becksted Goff; Thomas “Jake” Goff and his mother, Marcy Mountjoy Goff; grandchildren, Strauder, Tucker and Claire Goff and their mother, Kelly Crouch Goff; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Goff Hodgkin, and grandson, Whitt Goff.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the First Christian Church, 24 East Hickman Street, Winchester. A brief service will follow the visitation.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Codell, Ruge DeVan, David Stanfield, Lloyd Huth, Scott Kagan, Mike Koether, Bill Borkenstien, Charles Wells, Larry Barber and Gene Barber.
