GRC girls claim 2nd in home meet

The George Rogers Clark High School swim team held its second meet of the young season Wednesday night at College Park in Winchester.
The Cardinals invited Rowan County, Madison Southern, Harrison County and Bourbon County to take part in the meet.
Madison Southern won the combined event with 702 total points.
Southern girls took first place with 481 points, eding out GRC’s 427-point effort. Bourbon County finished with 213 points to take third over Rowan, which finished with 212 points.
On the boys side, Rowan collected 257 points to beat Bourbon’s 246 points. Southern took third with 221 and GRC boys scored 136 to finish fourth. Harrison had 34 points, in fifth.
The GRC girls team was bolstered by a number of first-place finishes, including Mackenzie Crowl winning the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly and E.A. Nisbet winning the 50-yard freestyle.
The team of Nisbet, Ella Luas, Crowl andRiley Weckwert won the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The relay team of Nisbet, Gracie Humphrey, Ella Lucas and Talen Spargo finished third in the 200-yard medley.
Riley Weckwert took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and Lucas finished fifth.
Nisbet finished third in the 100-yard backstroke.
For the GRC boys team, Christopher Sefanski won the 200-yard indvidual medley, 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle
Pearce Nisbet finished third in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Cardinals will be competing on the road for most of the regular season now, as they won’t return until senior night Jan. 25.
