Clark County residents looking to support a cause this weekend can ready their dancing shoes and their appetites Friday for the fifth annual Boots and Barbecue fund raiser at Rose Mary C. Brooks Place.
The event, sponsored by Clark Regional Medical Center, will open at 6 p.m. with dinner and cocktails followed by dancing and music by Prime Cut, a Winchester-based R&B, soul and Motown band.
According to the band’s bio, they were formed in 2009 and cover music by Chicago, Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and others.
The event will also feature an auction where the prize item will be a University of Kentucky basketball signed by coach John Calipari and the 2016-17 members of the Wildcats.
“We have a couple great auction items,” said event spokesperson Kim Schweitzer. “The signed basketball signed by all of the 2016-17 players and coach Cal, an original Phil May painting, an AR-15 donated by DoubleStar, a wine tour and tasting donated by Hamon Haven Winery and UK basketball tickets donated by Henry Rosenthal and Clyde Hefflin.”
Tickets are $60 per person. A corporate table can be reserved for eight people at a cost of $480 as well.
Schweitzer said that last year the event drew about 200 people, and the organizers are expecting even more Friday. The goal of the event is to raise $10,000, she added.
Rose Mary C. Brooks Place is a nonprofit assisted and independent living facility located at 200 Rose Mary Drive in Winchester.
The facility was created on 16 acres of land donated by the Brooks family and has 44 apartments and 64 independent living cottages.
Reservations for the event can be made at 859-745-4904.
