Board member Kitty Strode told the Winchester-Clark County Tourism, Recreation and Convention Commission the 13th annual Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival continued to show growth this year. The Sunday night concerts at Lykins Park recorded the largest crowd to date with about 10,000 in attendance. Strode also told board members the street dance, a new feature this year, was very successful and will become a regular feature of the three-day festival.
Miss Janna Chalfant, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Chalfant, Stonecrest Road, will represent Kentucky in the 13th annual Miss T.E.E.N. Pageant to be held in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 24-Dec. 1. Miss Chalfant, a senior at George Rogers Clark High School, was crowned during ceremonies Saturday evening at the Hyatt Regency, Lexington.
Firefighters from the Winchester Fire Department were on the scene within a minute in response to a fire at the Guerrant Clinic, 217 S. Main St., about 6 p.m. Wednesday. The fire began in a storeroom at the back of the building.
