Library to host session on college courses
MCU ADVANTAGE is an accelerated adult degree completion program that brings classes to local community classrooms throughout 29 cities and towns across Kentucky, southern Illinois and online. Adults can earn a SACS accredited associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree.
MCU also offers accelerated majors online including business management and psychology and counseling majors, with additional minors.
For more information, MCU is holding a free information session at the Clark County Public Library, 370 S. Burns Ave., Tuesday, March 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Designed for working adults and career changers wishing to further their education, students can complete ADVANTAGE in 18-24 months by attending classes one night a week, with one class at a time in a local community classroom.
Conkwright sets parent conferences
Conkwright Middle School has set the date for parent/teacher conferences.
They will be Tuesday, March 9, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and teachers will be available to briefly speak to parents. As a reminder, magnet testing will be this Saturday at 8 a.m. for those students who have already registered.
County government forums scheduled
Clark County Judge-Executive Henry Branham has scheduled town hall meetings to discuss the new form of county government that takes effect in 2011.
The first meeting is at 6 p.m. March 22 at Goff’s Corner Market on Highway 15. The second is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 5.
Voters will choose candidates for the new format during elections this year. The public is invited to attend the meetings.
Correction
In Friday’s T.G.I.F. section (page B2), an announcement about a wrestling event at 6:30 p.m. today at Fannie Bush Elementary School included incorrect information about the wrestlers who would be there because the Sun was misinformed.
Chris Corman of the Mountain Wrestling Association said Friday that the “superstars of the MWA” will be performing, but that none of those named by Ice Train — The Patriot, Iron Cross, Bill Dundee, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Abyss and “Handsome” Jimmy Valient — would be present.
